Cameron and Naoise : A Posh Rave in The Cotswolds Wedding at Stone Barn

On Saturday 1st July, Cam and Naoise celebrated their wedding in colourful style at The Stone Barn, Upper Windrush, near Burford in Gloucestershire.

The wedding was meticulously styled with pops of brilliant colour, reflecting this couple’s exuberant personalities. There were so many details that paid tribute to the surrounding Cotswold countryside, alongside their desire for a rave party.

With its oak beams, walls of natural stone and corrugated iron roof, The Stone Barn certainly provided the perfect warehouse backdrop.

The plan to hold the wedding ceremony outdoors, with a rolling Cotswold backdrop was changed at the rehearsal meeting, the chilly and wet (to that point) weather not playing ball. But there was no drama from this laid-back couple as the decision was taken to move to inside the barn.

As soon as the guests arrived, it was clear that they were in for a fun filled day, greeted as they were by the huge balloons at the barn entrance, supplied by The Giant Balloon Company.

And Daisy Says I Do had continued the colour palette into the barn with the venue décor.

The table settings certainly became quite a talking point! Colour, taxidermy, skulls and antlers, all set off beautifully with wild flowers from Go Wild Flowers. The taxidermy, skulls and domed cases of butterflies were all sourced from Beetle and Wilde.

As the ceremony start time approached our previously laid-back groom was becoming visibly more and more nervous – almost resorting to ringing the bride to find out if she was on her way!! But it was worth waiting for, as the bridal party arrived followed by the bride in this stunning little number from Kushicars.

The bride was led into the ceremony by a beautiful flower girl, page boy and six pairs of bridesmaids and groomsmen, while a choral version of Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ was played.  She was accompanied down the aisle by both parents, mum and dad, in a late change to the script. We started by welcoming everybody who had travelled so far to join them – friends and family from Australia, where the groom is from, from New York, where they both now live and work and from Sussex, where the bride’s family live. They had given me so much information to tell their story, which, although light-hearted in places, made for a beautiful and authentic ceremony. There were readings by friends and family, including Meatloaf lyrics and an excerpt from the script of Love Actually.

“The best kind of people are the ones that come into your life, and make you see the sun where you once saw clouds.

The people that believe in you so much, you start to believe in you too.

The people that love you, simply for being you.

The once in a lifetime kind of people.”

They had both written their own vows and they were truly awesome. There were tears! Rings were exchanged and then the ceremony was pretty much rounded off by the Groom’s mum reading the lyrics to ‘I Still Call Australia Home’

“I been to cities that never close down

From New York to Rio and Old London Town

But no matter how far or how wide I roam

I still call Australia home”

“You may kiss the bride” was followed by the loudest cheers and whooping I’ve ever heard in a wedding ceremony, such was the love filling the barn for Cam and Naoise, who then led everybody out of the barn and into the grounds, now bathed in glorious Cotswold’s sunshine.

A truly memorable day, filled with love and laughter, and such a privilege to have been asked to play a part in it. It’s certainly one I will never forget.
